Thalia Clan

So.. tell you more, huh?

So if we are such a group of individualists, what keeps us together? The term family. Thalia chose the term "Clan" for our tradition rather than Circle, Grove, Coven, Nest, or any of the other more common designations specifically because of this feeling of family that holds us together. We aren't perfect (!); we don't have total sweetness and light and harmony and smiley faces... but we do care about each other, emphasize a group gestalt in the Hearths of our Clan, and do our best to support one another, both magickally and mundanely.

By the way, we're not joking about laughter! While we may call upon Gods and Goddesses from many different mythologies during rituals, Thalia, Greek Muse of Comedy, is our patron Goddess, and as such honest joy is an important part of our celebrations. While we also remember that the Greek definition of comedy goes deeper than simply "things that make you laugh", more than one ritual has degenerated into a pun contest at some point, and we have used stories, balloons, toys, jokes, and other "nonsense" to add playfulness to our worship. We take seriously the Goddess's call for "mirth and reverence", believing in the Spider Robinson quote that "shared pain is diminished, shared joy increased". "All acts of love and pleasure are My rituals" goes the traditional phrase, and we agree.
